Conditions We Treat
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), is a debilitating condition characterized by severe, long-lasting fatigue that is not alleviated by rest. It often includes other symptoms such as cognitive difficulties, unrefreshing sleep, muscle and joint pain, and sensitivity to stimuli like light and sound.
ME/CFS affects millions of people worldwide, with a higher prevalence in women and individuals aged 40-60. The exact cause remains unclear, though it may be triggered by infections, immune system dysfunction, or hormonal imbalances.
Effective management of ME/CFS requires a holistic approach tailored to the individual, and may include personalised energy conservation strategies, lifestyle modifications, exercise and movement programs (carefully adapted to an individual’s level of function), management of any specific underlying conditions, and symptom-specific management.
